“Hangzhou Explorations” and “Hangzhou from the Air” (The Serials)

“Hangzhou Explorations" and “Hangzhou from the Air” are two of our online serial publications. The first is a photo-illustrated article series published on our website, the other one is a drone videography serial available on our YouTube channel. Both of these serials explore different areas of Hangzhou City (杭州市), the most populous and quasi capital of Eastern China's Zhejiang Province (浙江省). The focus mainly set on the central urban districts such as Xihu (西湖区), Shangcheng (上城区), Gongshu (拱墅区), and Binjiang (滨江区), and there are also records from the suburban districts, especially from Xiaoshan (萧山区), Yuhang (余杭区) and Linping (临平区), but also from Qiantang (钱塘区), Fuyang (富阳区), and Lin'an (临安区). Hangzhou sub-provincial city has two more counties (Tonglu 桐庐县 and Chun'an 淳安县) and a county-level city (Jiande 建德市) from where we have also collected resources.

Hangzhou Explorations, episode 12

Xiangji Temple (香积寺) is one of the eight famous temples of Hangzhou (杭州市). It is located near the Grand Canal in Gongshu District (拱墅区). It is reputed "the no.1 temple of the Canal" and it is only temple where Kinnara Buddha (Jianzha) is enshrined and worshipped.

Hangzhou Explorations, episode 11

Fuxing Temple (复兴寺) has a history of more than 800 years. It was originally named Zhushenghou Temple (助胜侯庙), also known as Fuxing Nunnery (复兴庵). In China, there are actual fake or replicas of famous buildings, districts and even whole cities in similar size to the original. In Hangzhou for example there is a fake Champs-Élysées with an Eiffel Tower, and there is also a fake Venice, known also as Venice Watertown (杭州威尼斯水城). Autumn outing with the grade 6 students to Songcheng (宋城). This new instalment in the Hangzhou Explorations series is exploring Songcheng, also known as Song Dynasty Town, which is the largest theme park in Hangzhou, featuring the cultural characteristics of the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). Exploring the Daxiangling-Tusita Scenic Area in Shaoxing

Last Saturday, our little team visited the Daxiangling-Tusita Scenic Area (大香林·兜率天景区) in Shaoxing. We focused on the two main attractions: Linghua Temple (龙华寺) and the truly majestic Heavenly Palace (兜率天宫). Hangzhou Explorations, episode 8

Hangzhou's central urban area is located in the western side of Shangcheng District (上城区) where Qianjiang New City (钱江新城) can be identified as one of Hangzhou's functional city centres and the most central, shiny CBD. The area this post is now focusing on is the quasi "main square", which is a large open space squeezing in between Citizen Centre (市民中心) and the Qiantang River (钱塘江). >>> Click here <<<
