CHINA: Hiking the Huihang Ancient Trail
Written by Laszlo, 27 October 2019
Not very often, but sometimes I can be very quick and efficient at getting my photos of a certain trip or sign hunting project sorted. This particular trip for example just happened yesterday (Saturday the 26th October) and the photos are now ready to be uploaded and published via our website.
We did this epic 20k walk on the Huihang Ancient Trail (徽杭古道) across a beautiful and highly scenic mountainous area that is located in Jixi county (绩溪县) in China. This road is famous for historical reasons as it connects two Chinese Provinces, Zhejiang (浙江) and Anhui (安徽).
The reason we did this trip was linked with our school's traditions as all new Chinese teachers are obliged to do it as a form of getting to know each other. It was not compulsory for the foreign teachers, but I managed to secure our participation. All we had to do was turning up for 7am on Saturday morning. I saw a massive opportunity in this trip and since we love walking and we are not lazy folks, we joined this happening very very wholeheartedly. And believe me, I will never ever regret our decision. NOT AT ALL! One of the best trips that we have ever done during one day. This time the road not only connected two provinces, but it well-connected the teachers from our school campuses. We all had a great walk, had a lot of chat with each other, and later in the evening, we all had dinner and drinks to celebrate. And of course, we also found signs - most importantly!
It was a fantastic and unforgettable day, lots of great moments, lots of amazing people, lots of great photos, and lots of baijiu... Well, let the photos tell the stories instead of me. Enjoy the journey!
