ENGLAND: "Triumphing by brave defence" - Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Let me take you back to August 2016 when Katie and I were invited to a best friend's wedding near Newcastle. We are now talking about Newcastle-upon-Tyne which is a relatively large city (around 300,000 people) situated in Tyne and Wear in the North East England region, so do not be confused when you travel to Newcastle-under-Lyme which is a much smaller settlement in Staffordshire near Stoke-on-Trent.

So, we went to Newcastle, but I personally stayed in the city a night longer while Katie was preparing for her bridesmaid duties in Durham. That was a good opportunity for me to get a proper discovery walk done across the entire city, explore every little corner for what my given time allowed me. I think I did manage to squeeze quite a lot into my trip as I checked out the quasi-town centre, the university campus, all the bridges, the Baltic arts centre, the castle, many churches, and of course, I carried out the sign project.

Nevertheless, weather-wise, it has been one of my crappiest trips ever: grey, cloudy, miserable, and occasional torrential rainfalls: well, as you will see it on my photo, I got proper drenched on that day - stupid marine climate. I still enjoyed my time in Newcastle and it is certainly one of those cities in England that is worth visiting. Well, have a look at my photos and decide for yourself if you like it or not!
