GEORGIA: Tbilisi, a capital city in the Caucasus
Written by Laszlo, 18 May 2018
As I was going through the photos that I took in Tbilisi, in the capital city of Georgia, I realised that I had hardly got any pictures that can actually show the city itself. I mean, photos of sites, landmarks that make this city what it is. This might be due to the bad weather that hit us during the second half of the day or maybe because I was once again focusing mostly on graffiti. The first half of the day was consumed by the extraordinary and gracious Tbilisi sign project, of course, which we proudly and successfully carried out in a great weather, so that took some time away as well.
As you will see, there are many street art-related pictures in this small selection, but overall, they are all unique to the Georgian city. As it is normally the case with large settlements, a day is never really enough to cover a large expedition throughout the city's hidden places and treasures, but I cannot complain as we, once again, squeezed a lot into the day. My photos, therefore, will show you one of the largest and tallest settlement signs we have ever seen and captured on a photograph, the view from Mtatsminda Park including the city's signature radio tower, Elguja Amashukeli's prominent Kartlis Deda statue known also as Mother of Georgia, the Narikala Fortress and the view from there over the River Kura, the Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi's old town, real, painted or sculpted dogs and cats, souvenirs, and lots of graffiti.
