WALES: Pistyll Rhaeadr in 2016 and 1985

Written by Laszlo, 24 December 2017

It is Christmas Eve today, therefore, I thought I would post something both wintry and enchanting, and about something that is in Wales, not far from Shrewsbury. I have chosen a place called Pistyll Rhaeadr, which this time is not an actual human settlement (though it has some built environment), but it is an outstanding natural beauty in the Berwyn Mountains. In fact, it is one of the most stunning and Britain's tallest (240ft/80m) single-drop waterfall.

I am posting photos of this breathtakingly natural phenomenon because we have got images out of the family archives (many thanks to Aunty Lo for them) back from 1985 documenting 'the big freeze' on the falls. Since there is not much snow (or ice) out there at the moment and the temperature is about +12°C, hopefully, these images will bring a seasonal shiver down your spine. Before you enjoy these frosty photos, have a look at a few of my photos taken on one of our trips in the area in the colourful autumn in 2016. Now enjoy and have a Merry Christmas!
